Associate reflects on cultural pride and open-minded leadership

Customer Service Manager Chuck Huang, #1778, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, embraces his team’s unique perspectives.

Chuck’s parents were born in Taiwan and taught him the importance of cultural pride and appreciating individuals from all backgrounds. This has inspired him to be an inclusive leader who values his team and enjoys hearing their new ideas.

“We all come from different backgrounds and experiences, which are assets when it comes to serving our customers,” said Chuck. “I take pride in managing a team that reflects the communities we serve.”

As he celebrates Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Chuck is reminded of his journey and everything he has accomplished. He also recognizes that his success today is not just a result of his hard work but also because of his parents’ sacrifices.

Chuck has been with Publix for 19 years and is passionate about inspiring the next generation of leaders.

“I remember being a high school student working as a part-time associate,” said Chuck. “My managers made sure I knew this was just the beginning and career growth was an option at Publix. Their mentorship encouraged me to explore other positions and eventually take on the leadership role I have now.”

He strives to be the same kind of mentor to his associates and an example that anyone can make it to the position they desire.

“Publix is a place for opportunity,” said Chuck. “No matter your background, if you work hard, you can accomplish anything!”
