Grocery associate uses difference maker tasks to motivate others

Grocery Clerk Milena DeBarros, #1595, Glen Allen, Virginia, loves helping customers and encouraging her fellow associates.

This focus on consistently providing premier customer service makes Milena a My Publix, My Part difference maker. Her diligence in helping customers also extends to associates. She encourages them to go above and beyond because she knows our service is a huge part of what keeps customers coming back to shop at Publix.

Milena began her Publix career in the customer service department. Her execution of our high standards of excellence helped as her team worked to increase its service standards for curbside delivery pickup times.

Milena’s hard work and attentive care to customers caught the eye of her store manager, who encouraged her to challenge herself and try a new department. Milena became a grocery clerk, which allowed her to gain experience in a different area of the store while continuing to provide premier service to customers.

“No matter which department of the store I’m in, I know that providing premier service is the most important element of our success,” Milena said. “This mindset comes from our founder, Mr. George, and I’m proud to play a part in continuing it.”

Milena’s favorite part of working at Publix is putting smiles on customers’ faces, even in quick interactions. “I always want to make a difference in a customer’s life,” she said.
