Store Manager Brian Jackson, #1459, Boca Raton, Florida, embraced living Life. Inspired. A year later, he’s 60 pounds lighter and passionate about his journey.
The idea of engaging in healthy behaviors didn’t happen for just one reason. Around the same time Brian heard about the Life. Inspired. program, he began working at a store in Miami with a large selection of natural and organic products. He knew our customers would have questions, so he felt it was the perfect time to make a lifestyle change and learn more.
“I wanted to relate to my customers and make sure I looked the part as well,” he said. “I wanted them to see me and know that I could be a resource to help them find the healthful and nutritious products they were looking for.”
Brian started counting his calories and cutting out all sweets and sugar-filled treats. He replaced his old eating pattern with one that incorporates more green vegetables. He consumes smaller, better-for-you meals more frequently.
He also made going to the gym a priority. Even with his busy schedule and young children, he found time to exercise — sometimes hitting the gym after his kids went to bed. Brian added resistance training to his cardio workouts, beginning with machine weights, and he has now progressed to lifting heavy free weights.
“Seeing the results is the best part,” said Brian. “When I started fitting into smaller pants, I was like, ‘Whoa! This is great!’ It makes you feel like you’ve accomplished something.”
Brian is passionate about eating right and exercising. This led him to set a personal wellness goal of entering a powerlifting competition or a race within the next year.
“I made this commitment because my health is important, and I want to be there for my family,” he said. “I found I had more energy, so I was able to work all day and then come home and spend time with my kids.”
His transformation also helped his wife and children make lifestyle changes. Brian is excited they’re making changes as a family, so they can lead healthful lives together.
Brian hopes his story encourages others to take up a more healthful lifestyle.
“If I can do it, you can too,” he says. “You have to stay focused and dedicated. It takes a lot of willpower and sacrifice, but the benefits are worth it.”
