Laura found the place she calls home at Publix

Prepared Foods Specialist Laura Sheridan, #1701, Nocatee, Florida, may not have started out working in a grocery store, but she definitely plans to stay.

For 30 years before moving to Florida, Laura owned and operated her very own hair salon. She loved being her own boss and creating a special work environment. But in 2019, she wanted a fresh start and moved south.

“When I came to Florida, I started shopping at Publix and heard of its great reputation, so I got a job in the deli,” said Laura. “Then, when I learned that a Publix GreenWise Market (PGWM) was opening in my area, I immediately talked to my managers about transferring there.”

Laura always loved organic, homeopathic options. She has a natural lifestyle, so PGWM was the perfect fit.

“I’ve worked in almost every part of FINDS and EATS. Whether it’s charcuterie boards, the pizza and burrito bars, or the deli counter, you name it, and I’ve probably done it,” said Laura. “Really, it’s all about jumping in wherever I’m needed.”

But Laura didn’t stop there. Her latest venture has been learning the bakery side of prepared foods, where she helps with baking, stocking and even decorating cakes!

“I really enjoy meeting so many customers and associates,” said Laura. “Moving around the store has helped me get to know a lot of people I wouldn’t have by just staying in 1 area.”

Chemistry and togetherness have made all the difference for her.

“I don’t have any family down here and didn’t know anyone when I moved,” said Laura. “I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to be part of this team. I’m part of something so special. I fit in here.”
