Meet an expert in sanitation

After 24 years in the military, Sanitation Lead John Love seized the opportunity to work for Publix.

Since 2018, John has performed his job at the Lakeland bakery plant with dedication and passion. His discipline and high standards have made him successful.

“When I was interviewed for the sanitation lead position, I wasn’t sure how great my chances were. Now, I am grateful I got this growth opportunity,” said John.

Working in the sanitation department requires attention to detail. A top-notch sanitation associate helps maintain the manufacturing facility by keeping it running efficiently and following standards.

“We are responsible for ensuring that Publix adheres to state sanitation protocols,” said John. “In addition, we follow company cleaning policies, perform daily sanitation inspections and supervise the cleaning staff.”

He considers his team the first line of defense and an essential part of Publix’s promise to provide premier service. His goal is zero recalls for his department, and all his team members work hard to achieve it!

John stays up to date with the trends in the sanitation department and finds different ways to help his team work more efficiently. He’s glad he doesn’t have to look far for role models.

“I really admire General Manager Bakery Plant Gaye Pate and Support Development Manager Rachel Glawson. They are sources of inspiration for me,” he said. “Gaye and Rachel are very knowledgeable, and both are great leaders. I hope I can follow in their footsteps.”
