Meet Assistant Pharmacy Manager Lucy Young Son

Seo “Lucy” Young Son, #469, Johns Creek, Georgia, explains what inspired her to become a Publix Pharmacist.

What made you want to work for Publix?
Everything changed for me when I was in pharmacy school. Initially, I wanted to work in a hospital. Around the time I was making the big decision, a floater pharmacist showed me her work. I was inspired by her amazing work ethic. She had that Publix work style and enjoyed her job. She radiated positivity and inspired me to stay with Publix.

Why did you become a pharmacist?
I really liked chemistry in high school, and I knew I didn’t want to become a medical doctor. Pharmacy aligned with the style of work I was looking for.

What challenges have you overcome in your career?
Each day can have its challenges, but my confidence in pharmacy has increased over the years. Working in our community pharmacy setting has taught me a lot.

Who motivates you every day?
My parents motivate and drive me every day. They’re immigrants from South Korea, and I want to make them proud.

What activities do you enjoy outside of Publix?
I enjoy running and working out. I’ve recently completed 2 Publix half marathons.
