Pharmacy Manager Lina Said, #1211, Nashville, Tennessee, began taking steps toward her professional career at a very young age. Her passion for helping people has contributed to her success in pharmacy.
What was your journey to becoming a pharmacist?
I was 17 when I started working for Publix. I was too young to work in the pharmacy, so I worked as a front service clerk and cashier before I became a pharmacy technician. I went to pharmacy school and became a Publix Pharmacy intern. After I graduated, I became a floating pharmacist, an assistant manager and now a manager.
Why did you want to become a pharmacist?
I am passionate about helping patients improve their health and quality of life. I value the opportunity to build trusting relationships and help my patients with their medications and overall care. I find it rewarding to make a positive impact on patients’ lives every day.
What do you love most about working at Publix?
The relationships I have with my patients and fellow associates matter most to me. While I was a floating pharmacist, I was also able to cater to the Kurdish community. Being able to counsel patients in my native language made things easier for my patients and was very fulfilling for me.
If you were not a pharmacist, what would you be?
I think I’d probably be a coffee shop owner because I’d still be able to interact with people. I’m a community-based person.
Who inspires you?
A former assistant pharmacy manager shaped my approach by modeling consistency and respect in every customer interaction. His mentorship and encouragement helped me achieve my goals at Publix.
What keeps you going every day?
My family’s support and the support of my co-workers
What are your hobbies?
I love doing Pilates and getting matcha with my friends.
What is your personal motto?
Always be a better person. Be kind, always.
Do you have a favorite Mr. George quote?
Publix will be a little better, or not quite as good, because of you.
What’s your favorite Publix product?
Chocolate croissants
