What made you want to work for Publix?
The associate benefits and opportunities for growth. I applied, and the rest is history. I’ve been with Publix for 32 years.
Why did you become a pharmacy tech?
I began my Publix career as a decorator in the bakery. While working and managing family responsibilities, I looked for opportunities for professional growth. I pursued a position in pharmacy to contribute to the community through direct patient care. After I began in the pharmacy, I knew it was where I was supposed to be.
What do you enjoy most about being a pharmacy tech?
Working closely with patients, offering personalized service and treating each customer as an individual. Clear communication is essential, particularly when describing instructions, and I prioritize being approachable, so customers feel comfortable asking me questions. Engaging with them builds trust, encourages open discussion and helps address their concerns.
Who motivates you every day?
My husband, Robert. He also works for Publix as a retail coordinator for bakery. He reminds me that I have a gift for connecting with people and helping them.
What activities do you enjoy outside of working at Publix?
My husband and I enjoy traveling the world. South Africa is my favorite place to visit.
