Refrigeration Alarm Monitoring Specialist Rabecca Sobha started her Publix career as a cashier at #356 (now #2043), Lakeland, Florida, in 2016. After several years working in our stores, she transitioned to risk management. In 2023, she joined the refrigeration alarm monitoring (RAM) team and assumed her current role.
The RAM team operates 24/7 and supports retail through the alarm monitoring system and the Publix Property Portal. Stores use the portal to submit property and equipment requests. As a refrigeration alarm monitoring specialist, Rabecca reviews and responds to those requests. She is also responsible for handling inbound calls and alarms related to refrigeration, air conditioning and lighting systems. On average, Rabecca logs over 100 work order requests each day.
Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills are essential in Rabecca’s role.
“I used to rely on my notes a lot when I first started. Now I rely a lot on my patience and stored knowledge. It’s important that I don’t rush each task I complete,” Rabecca said.
When a store reports an issue, Rabecca investigates the affected device remotely, connects with the manager in charge to better understand the situation and determines the next steps. If a repair is needed, she’ll create a work order for a technician to complete.
“My experience in customer service has really helped me succeed in this role,” said Rabecca. “I’m constantly on the phone with managers, and we’re working together to solve their problems.”
Rabecca sees firsthand the commitment and teamwork among her colleagues and retail managers, who are all working to ensure our stores operate at their best.
“I work with a great team here. We’re like a family; we even call ourselves the ‘RAM FAM,’” she said.
