Did someone say back to school?

Back to School

So, you made the decision to go back to school, and you’re excited about picking up where you left off. But then you begin to wonder — what if I need extra help? Where do I go? Who do I talk to? Don’t worry — Publix has resources to put you on the path to educational success.

One-to-One Tutoring

One-to-one tutoring could give you that extra edge you need to stay on top of your classes. The adult education team can refer you to tutors for subjects like English, math, writing and Spanish. If you need a more specialized tutor — for instance, test prep — that’s not a problem either.

“We had an associate request tutoring for biology, physiology and anatomy,” said Job Analyst Megan Goding. “I was able to refer her to the closest university in the area where she lived.”

The database primarily includes tutors through the local library and public schoolsystems. Once you receive a list of referrals, you can follow up to make sure you and the potential tutor click. Most library tutors are free, while others may charge. Some subjects have an extensive referral list, so you can find the one who’s just right for you and your budget.

ABE, GED and ESL classes

The training delivery department receives many requests for assistance in finding Adult Basic Education (ABE), GeneralEducation Development (GED) preparation and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. No matter your job, you have access to a list of organizations that offer the continuing education program you need.

How to submit a request

If you’re interested in one-to-one tutoring, ABE, GED or ESL opportunities, just complete the Adult Education Request form at www.publix.org > Career and Self Development.
