Keep cruising down the road to good health

Open Enrollment

Take steps today to secure the coverage you need for 2016 by enrolling in Publix’s benefits. Open enrollment is here and runs through Oct. 31.

Publix wants you to be as healthy as you can be for you and your family — not just now, but in the years to come. Open enrollment is happening now, and it’s the one time each year you can enroll in or make changes to your health, dental or vision coverage unless you have an IRS-permitted election change. And it’s also your chance to apply for long-term disability coverage, if you aren’t enrolled.

If you’re eligible for Publix’s benefits, you should have received your open enrollment materials at your work location at the end of September. These materials provide a summary of the changes for the upcoming year, along with important information and dates for you to remember.

Whether you recently became eligible or have been enrolled in coverage for years, it’s always important to review your open enrollment materials. Open enrollment ends Oct. 31, so secure the coverage you need for 2016 today.

Be healthy on your wellness journey

At Publix, we’re committed to your well-being. And, since health coverage is an essential part of your health and wellness benefits, we offer comprehensive, gold-level health coverage through our Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) PPO Plan at an affordable premium.

The BCBS plan helps you stay on top of your health with free annual physicals when you see a BCBS-network family doctor or gynecologist. In addition, many routine immunizations and preventive labs and screenings performed as part of these visits also are free.

And it gets better! The premiums for BCBS PPO Plan coverage are not increasing. The premium for associate-only coverage with the tobacco-free discount will remain $24.16 a week. That’s only $3.45 a day, so enroll in this valuable coverage today.

It’s a good idea to have a backup plan

Did you know a disabling injury occurs every second? That’s why you should consider enrolling in Publix’s Long Term Disability (LTD) Plan to protect your pay in case the unexpected happens. Publix offers eligible full-time associates the LTD plan as insurance for their pay. The LTD plan may replace up to 66 2/3 percent of your covered monthly wages when you’re out of work for longer than 90 days due to an approved illness or injury.

If you’re currently enrolled in the LTD plan, we have good news to share: the LTD rate is not increasing! Visit PASSport to view your 2016 premium, as your premium is based on your covered monthly wages over the past year.

Don’t forget to smile along the way

Affordable dental insurance — now there’s something to smile about. With Publix’s dental plan, you and your family can get free teeth cleanings every six months and free bitewing X-rays annually. Are you smiling yet? If not, this should cause you to grin — premiums for dental coverage are not increasing for 2016!

Is your eyesight in check?

There are many sights to see, so don’t lose focus. Enroll in the vision plan. Coverage includes annual eye exams as well as benefits for contacts or frames and lenses at an affordable cost for you and your family. Plus, premiums for vision coverage are not increasing for 2016!

Make sure your family is secure

Protect your family in the event of your death. The Supplemental Life Insurance Plan offers term-life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) coverage for you and your family. The tobacco-free rates for this important coverage are decreasing 20 percent for 2016, and the tobacco user rates are decreasing 4 percent. Your premium also will change if your coverage amount, age bracket or tobacco-use status changes.

Be_1Great news! The 2016 premiums for the BCBS PPO, dental and vision plans and the 2016 rate for LTD insurance are not increasing! And the supplemental life insurance premiums for 2016 are decreasing!

For this year’s online open enrollment process, you must log in to PASSport to confirm or choose your benefits, even if you have no changes. If you do not have any changes to your current dental, vision or supplemental life insurance coverage elections, you do not need to contact Publix Personal Plans.
