Pharmacy Manager Jack Tacher, #413, Lake Worth, Florida, has provided premier service at Publix for much of his life. He started working as a front service clerk in 1990 before transferring to the pharmacy. At the advice of his sister, he decided to make it a career.
“I knew I loved Publix, and I enjoyed working in the pharmacy, so it seemed like a good decision to go to pharmacy school and continue working here,” said Jack. “Publix isn’t just a great place to work; it’s the best place to work.”
Jack enjoys working with a solid team whose sole focus is delivering premier service to their customers. Whether it’s reducing wait times, flavoring liquid medications, syncing prescriptions or counselling patients on their medications, Jack and his associates work hard to make a concierge approach to service the basis of everything they do.
“It’s extremely important in the pharmacy to do everything we can to get them in and out quickly, but also make sure they leave well prepared to comply with their doctors’ orders,” Jack said.
One of the ways Jack and his team help do that is through Medication Therapy Management (MTM), a program that allows Jack to schedule time with patients to go over their medications — both prescription and over-the-counter — and make sure they are taking them correctly.
“The pharmacists and technicians I work with are great at their jobs, which makes it possible for me to spend 15 or 20 minutes sitting down with a patient,” said Jack. “MTM makes a huge difference for many of our patients, and I enjoy offering that added level of service.”
And for Jack, premier customer service is something he learned from the get-go at Publix.
“Early on, my department managers and store managers showed me what it meant to go above and beyond for our customers by doing it themselves,” said Jack. “I try to be that same kind of role model for my associates today.”
For the 4th year in a row, J.D. Power and Associates has recognized the Publix Pharmacy as highest in customer satisfaction with supermarket pharmacies.
