Associates demonstrate their dedication to Publix in many ways. Packing Operator Tolani “Tola” Oludemi shows her commitment by setting a good example for her team. She is a champion for quality, safety, efficiency, service — and punctuality.
Tola, who was born in Nigeria, has traveled around the world and came to the U.S. in 2000. Her career at Publix began in 2006 as a temporary associate at the Atlanta bakery plant, where she fell in love with the people and the job.
“I researched Publix and found out the company had been around for a long time, had high employee and customer satisfaction, good benefits and no history of layoffs,” Tola said.
“It’s an attractive place to build a career with advancement. It’s like I’m working for myself, as a stockholder of the company.”
Tola has maintained a record of punctuality and perfect attendance. She accomplishes this by planning ahead and prioritizing her time, tasks and life activities. Tola arrives on the job early every day and doesn’t leave things to chance.
“Punctuality is the soul of business, since time means money! As a lead in my section, a lot depends on me, and I have to show a good example,” she said.
Tola also shares Publix’s philosophy of giving back. Because she received help in the past, she vows to help others by paying it forward. She also volunteers at her church and for her Publix family.
“We had several associates fall into hard times. Tola spearheaded fundraising efforts along with other plant associates and raised about $5,000 for several associates over the last few years,” said Senior Production Department Manager Josh Farnsworth.
Fellow associates enjoy Tola’s positive spirit. She brings energy and focus to the job that makes her a natural leader. And for that, Tola is recognized as our featured manufacturing associate for the My Publix, My Part program.
