This seafood clerk is hooked on Publix

Baaron Knox

Seafood Clerk Baaron Knox, #352, Lakeland, Florida, moved here from Texas earlier this year. And while he hasn’t been with Publix long, you wouldn’t know it. He’s very comfortable behind his seafood case, and his gregarious nature makes customers feel at ease.

“Some people may think seafood is intimidating, and I’m here to show them it’s not,” said Baaron. “We make it easy for customers to enjoy seafood without having to be experts. Our new seafood bags are a great example of that.”

“It’s within my nature to want to help people and make them feel good. And, if they can leave Publix feeling like I made their lives easier, I’ve done my job.”

Helping his customers make healthful choices that also taste good is rewarding, but the true measure of success for Baaron is the way people feel when they leave the store.

“From the time I was a young boy, I was opening doors for people, being polite and putting others before myself,” said Baaron. “It’s in my nature to want to help people and to make them feel good. And, if they can leave Publix feeling like I made their lives easier, I’ve done my job.”

Baaron sharpens his seafood skills by talking with customers, asking them their favorite recipes and getting tips he can pass along to others.

“One of my best sources of information is our customers,” he said. “I’m always learning, and my customers are happy to share their knowledge.”

He also leans on his team quite a bit. He says his managers and co-workers are amazing and are always there to help him grow. And that’s something Baaron plans to do a lot of.

“I’m just getting started,” said Barron. “I work with the best crew around, and they’ve helped me realize where I want to be — one day holding the keys to my own Publix.”
