Stacy Ayscue began working in the Lakeland, Florida, fresh kitchen as a palletizer in 2021 and quickly learned that Publix is a great place to work.
“Fresh kitchen is a great place to grow because it’s still so new,” Stacy said.
She became a slicing operator in 2022, slicing meats for our Pub subs. She loves being able to brag to people about what she does.
“What’s more well-known at Publix than a Pub sub? I have a hand in that every day,” Stacy said.
Her day starts by setting up the texter, the machine that slices the meat. Once products are sliced, they are packed and shipped to stores.
One of the things Stacy enjoys about her job is the team around her.
“We keep it very light and fun,” she said. “Management is very encouraging; they want to see you succeed.”
Associates interested in working in the fresh kitchen must be prepared to work quickly.
“It’s fast-paced, so you must have a sense of urgency,” Stacy said. “But it’s easy when you get the hang of it.”
She is grateful to have the opportunity to move up with Publix.
“Publix sets the bar high with workplace quality and associate care,” Stacy said. “No company cares as much as we do.”
