These scholarships are awarded based on the associates’ experiences at Publix, their academic performance, involvement in DECA, leadership skills and community service.

About DECA
Founded in 1946, DECA was created as an innovative learning experience to engage students and prepare them for college and their future careers. DECA is a nonprofit organization that trains the next generation to be academically prepared, community-oriented, professionally responsible and experienced leaders in fields like marketing, finance, hospitality and management.
DECA offers a variety of activities and classroom experiences, including competitive events, chapter campaigns, online simulations, and partnerships with industries and businesses to give students real-world experiences. DECA is organized into unique student divisions, each with programs designed to address its members’ learning styles, interests and focus.
Currently, the high school division includes over 292,000 members in more than 4,000 schools. The collegiate division includes over 5,400 members in more than 200 colleges and universities.
