We marked a milestone in Publix history on Sept. 6; our newest distribution center officially opened in Greensboro, North Carolina. It’s our 10th distribution center, joining Florida locations in Boynton Beach, Deerfield Beach, Jacksonville, Lakeland, Miami, Orlando and Sarasota, as well as facilities in Lawrenceville, Georgia, and McCalla, Alabama.
“We’re excited to have our presence in the Greensboro community,” said Vice President of Distribution Kyle Davis. “This distribution center supports the growth of our company and Publix family.”
The Greensboro distribution center and its approximately 1,000 associates are helping drive Publix into the future. The new facility
- supports more than 125 stores in the Charlotte Division
- helps alleviate capacity constraints at our other distribution centers
- spans 2.2 million square feet, with a 940,000-square-foot refrigerated warehouse and a 1.3-million-square-foot dry warehouse and
- reduces our longest transit time from a distribution center to a store from over 10 hours of one-way drive time to 5 hours.
