If you’re interested in promotion opportunities into management positions in our stores, the next chance to submit your registration of interest (ROI) is Sept. 30 through Oct. 13.
“The ROI process works because it is associate-driven,” said Manager of Selection and Performance Management Erin Gardner. “It means that associates can tell us if they are ready or interested in being considered for a promotion into management. The 1st step to do this is to submit your ROI form in PASSport.”
Interested associates can find information about qualifications for each management position in PASSport and on posters in each store’s break room.
“At other companies, associates may not have a way to formally express their interest in advancing to a management role,” Erin added. “At Publix, we make sure associates have that opportunity.”
Manager of Retail Staffing Curt Salisbury said that when we are marketing Publix to get people to apply, we highlight our promote-from-within culture.
“We have more than 250,000 associates in soon-to-be 8 states. How many other companies are interested in furthering their associates’ careers? We are proud of our ROI process because it gives associates who want to move up a chance to voice that desire.”
The ROI process has given Curt some moments to remember.
“It’s rewarding when someone testing for promotion says, ‘Do you remember me? You hired me 3 years ago as a front service clerk. I’m growing and learning and am now taking the test to become a manager.’”
And support for associates’ growth doesn’t stop once someone gets promoted.
“Publix invests in training and developing our managers,” Erin said. “We offer a variety of courses and workshops. Managers get the necessary tools to support their success, including mentoring programs. It’s a testament to why associates choose to stay and grow at Publix.”
Store associates have 4 different opportunities throughout the year (in February, April, August and October) to register their interest in just a few quick and easy clicks on the Career & Self Development page.
