Our benefits support the 5 drivers of well-being

Publix is a great place to work. Our benefits and company perks help Publix stand out from other companies in our industry. Our comprehensive benefits package makes a difference in our associates’ lives and supports 5 drivers of well-being. They are

  • financial health
  • physical health
  • mental and emotional health
  • social connectedness and
  • career engagement.

Financial health

Mr. George believed that when associates own the company, they work together to make it better. We have 3 plans to help you become a company owner:

  1. The PROFIT Plan is an Employee Stock Ownership Plan that contributes Publix stock in a retirement account for you just for working here.
  2. The 401(k) SMART Plan lets you save for your retirement, and for every dollar you save, up to 3% of your eligible pay, Publix matches 50 cents – up to a maximum of $750 a year.
  3. The Employee Stock Purchase Plan lets you buy stock individually, jointly with your spouse or as a gift into a custodial account for your minor child.

We also launched Financially Fresh, provided by Publix Employees Federal Credit Union. This free personal finance program can help you reach your financial goals. It includes topics like budgeting practices, saving for major purchases, credit management, investing, planning for retirement and much more.

And you can score some savings when using our Publix Discount Program.

Physical health

Through the Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) PPO Plan, we offer eligible associates and their families free preventive health care benefits. Enrolled associates can also use Amwell telehealth for urgent care, with a $25 copay, and can take advantage of free diabetes management through Livongo.

Our new short-term disability insurance plan replaces a portion of enrolled associates’ pay for up to 12 weeks due to personal injury, illness, maternity leave (giving birth) or a medical procedure.

Mental and emotional health

You can find mental health resources on PASSport, including tips and screenings through Mental Health America, a nonprofit organization that promotes mental well-being. If enrolled in our BCBS PPO Plan, you can talk to a licensed mental health professional for $25 per visit through Amwell telehealth. Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) can also help connect associates with appropriate mental health resources.

Social connectedness

We like to recognize associates for their contributions and create a sense of belonging. Publix supports social connectedness through

  • service awards
  • thank-you gift cards
  • the My Publix, My Part program
  • activity challenges and group walks or runs
  • associate-only perks via Club Publix and
  • associate celebrations.

We recently transitioned to paid time off (PTO) to give you more flexibility when you want or need time off. We also have something that other companies don’t. Our holiday bonus is given to eligible part- and full-time associates, and we allow full-time associates to convert part of their bonus into extra PTO. Plus, paid parental leave can be used for up to 1 year after a birth or adoption, giving parents extra time and flexibility to bond with their new child.

Career engagement

We want to help you achieve your goals and assist in your growth through our

  • promote-from-within culture
  • cross-training
  • Registration and Notification of Interest
  • tuition, GED and individual course reimbursement
  • adult education resources and
  • Carol Jenkins Barnett and Publix Community Service Scholarships.

With these 5 drivers, we take a holistic approach to help your well-being. For full details about our benefits, including eligibility requirements, log on to PASSport.
