Quit tobacco during the Great American Smokeout

Smoking can put you at increased risk for many health conditions, including severe illness from the coronavirus. Help protect yourself by quitting tobacco; the Great American Smokeout is Nov. 19.

For more than 40 years, the American Cancer Society has hosted this event for people to commit to healthy, smoke-free lives. As the single most preventable cause of death and illness in the world, smoking can be difficult to quit. But the benefits are real, including better breathing, lower blood pressure and heart rate, and reduced risk of cancer.

If you’re ready to quit, Publix is here to help! Associates and their family members enrolled in the Publix BCBS PPO Plan can take advantage of the Tobacco Cessation Program, which includes Chantix, a name-brand medication, at the generic copay, and a free GET QUIT support plan. Not enrolled in the plan? We have plenty of free resources to help you be tobacco-free too.
