As we say goodbye to another decade, technology continues to transform our lives.
Ever heard that history tends to repeat itself? That’s true for trends, too — even digital ones. In 2020, as it’s been in the past, speed is key. While older technologies will still be at the center of most digital changes, these trends will dominate discussions and set the course for innovations beyond 2020.
- 5G for you and me. 2020 is the year of 5G, with some of the biggest names in telecommunications — AT&T, Verizon, Nokia and Ericsson — releasing 5G phones with faster broadband speeds and more reliable mobile networks.
- Always Connected PCs with super speed. Move over, smart phones. In 2020, 5G connectivity will also be coming to PCs. Qualcomm and Lenovo joined forces in May 2019 to announce the first 5G computer, the Snapdragon 8cx.
- A faster Wi-Fi for a faster world. Beyond the basics like more speed and range, Wi-Fi 6 (the sixth version of Wi-Fi) will reshape the way routers handle the growing number of internet-connected devices in our homes and lives.
