Join us in recognizing our truck drivers during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, Sept. 11 – 17.
Truck drivers have been on the road since the end of the 19th century. The semitrailer was invented in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1898 by automobile manufacturer Alexander Winton as a way to deliver his cars. Nearly every aspect of daily life is impacted by truck drivers providing the goods and resources we need.
Without our Publix truck drivers, we wouldn’t be able to take care of our customers and stores. In 2022, our truck drivers will travel over 83 million miles, complete nearly 590,000 trips and make more than 1.5 million deliveries to our stores. Not only do they deliver the products our customers want and the essentials stores need, but they also do so while representing our company and promoting safe driving.
National Truck Driver Appreciation Week was founded in 1998 by the American Trucking Associations to pay respect and thank professional truck drivers for their hard work and dedication in one of the most demanding and vital jobs. This week is an opportunity to show our gratitude to Publix truck drivers, the unsung heroes in our company’s day-to-day operations.
During National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, our truck drivers receive a special menu every day and a gift they can use to do their job, such as work gloves and flashlights. At our stores, associates show their appreciation for our truck drivers by setting up displays and posters, and handing out snack bars and treats.
When you see our truck drivers, be sure to show them some love and let them know you appreciate the work they do to keep driving our company forward!
