Fresh produce at your fingertips

Produce Clerk Angie Hamm, #1659, Lakeland, Florida, loves PRODUCE and all it has to offer.

When Angie started with Publix 24 years ago, never had she imagined she would leave her store to head in a new direction. But, after the passing of her mother, she decided to take a leap of faith.

“I am not someone who likes to take chances or go through a lot of change. I like being comfortable,” said Angie. “But my mom always encouraged me to switch things up and find different passions.”

When Angie saw the Lakeland Publix GreenWise Market location was opening in 2019, she knew that was her next move. What started out as a leap of faith in honor of her mother has turned into her home.

“I love how everything is so fresh, and there are so many options,” said Angie. “For example, we carried jackfruit long before most retailers even thought to; it’s a great alternative to meat for many vegetarians or people who want to add different fruits into their diet.”

One of the freshest options Angie works on is our house-made guacamole. Every day, she blends fresh avocado with a few other tasty ingredients to make this salsa-topped customer favorite.

Angie also takes a huge amount of pride in her job of preparing the cut fruit. She loves working on its presentation and drawing in customers to try different combinations.

“We are celebrated and encouraged to be unique and different, and I love being able to translate that into my fruit presentation,” Angie said.

Not only is Publix GreenWise Market a place where Angie can express herself, but also where she can create a strong connection with customers.

“The absolute best part of doing what I do is connecting with the people who walk in here and giving them exactly what they were looking for,” said Angie. “It is all about making a difference.”
