Angela Jordan, Director of Training Development

Angela began her Publix career in 1991 as a front service clerk at #315, now #1681, Brandon, Florida. She held several positions in retail before joining human resources in 2001 as a job analyst. She gained more experience while working in various positions in the training development department until 2017, when she was promoted to her current role.

Where were you born?
Tampa, Florida

What did you want to be when you were younger?  
An elementary schoolteacher

What’s your work philosophy?  
Work hard and approach every situation with an open mind, readiness to learn something new, and a ‘how can I help’ attitude.

What’s something about you that people may be surprised to learn?  
I was a dancer growing up and got the opportunity to dance in the pre-game show of the 1991 NFL championship game in Tampa.

What’s your favorite Publix product?  
Publix Bakery Chantilly Cake

What’s your advice to someone just starting their Publix career?  
Seek out opportunities and try new things as often as you can, including new tasks, roles, positions and stores. You may just find a passion for something you didn’t know was there. Also, when you seek opportunities, you’ll always learn different parts of the business and new ways to serve our customers.

What’s one thing on your bucket list?  
Camp and see the stars in the Florida Keys at Dry Tortugas National Park

What’s your favorite movie?  
Any Christmas movie — it’s my favorite time of year.

Publix people

What do you like to do in your free time? 
Spend time with my kids and parents, boating, snorkeling and traveling

Meeting my husband, James Jordan, while working in HR

If you could meet anyone in the past or present, who would it be? Why?  
Oprah Winfrey — She is such an inspirational and strong woman who cares so much about others. I’d love to learn as much as I could from her.
