Bright ideas spark innovation with Idea Spot

That’s why we created Idea Spot. As a platform to promote, inspire and receive ideas, Idea Spot is a continuation of the innovative spirit started by Mr. George over 90 years ago.

Perfect parfait

Assistant Store Manager Megan Verde, #1141, Goodlettsville, Tennessee, submitted an idea to make our parfaits more consistent. She proposed adding a fill line to our yogurt parfait cups to produce a more uniform product. This change provides a more consistent product for our customers and reduces shrinkage from overfilled parfait cups. Thanks to Megan’s bright idea, the new cups rolled out to stores at the end of 2023.

Steak thickness size chart

Assistant Meat Manager Ben Campbell, #518, Homosassa, Florida, wanted to improve our customers’ experience purchasing custom cuts of meat. So, he submitted his idea for a steak thickness chart. This chart allows customers to have a visual aid and avoid confusion when requesting cuts of meat. Marketing created the chart, which is posted near the entrance of your store’s meat department. Ben’s idea makes our customers’ custom-cut choices a breeze when choosing their ideal steak thickness.

Seafood snack packs

Meat Manager Kevin Gatchell, #336, St. Augustine, Florida, had a eureka moment with the cocktail sauce used in our shrimp and surimi snack packs. Instead of manually filling each cup, he suggested using prepackaged cocktail sauce for our seafood snacks. We were able to source the item from a supplier, and you can now find prepackaged sauce in our packs. Kevin’s suggestion will save Publix an estimated $8,000 annually and create a more efficient packing process for our favorite seafood snacks.
