Excitement radiates from Pharmacy Intern Rosa Li, #824, North Charleston, South Carolina, as she prepares to graduate from pharmacy school. It’s been a lot of hard work during her 4 years at the Medical University of South Carolina, but it’s paying off.
While in pharmacy school, she sought out an internship to gain work experience in her field. And what better place to learn than the Publix Pharmacy?
“I always enjoyed shopping at Publix,” Rosa said. “I did research on several different pharmacies, but I liked what they were doing here.”
Her internship with Publix involves assisting pharmacy technicians, counseling customers on how to properly use their medication and offering options to improve customers’ health. Since she’s certified to administer immunizations, she has also helped vaccinate patients. Rosa says she enjoys the caring service Publix offers its patients.
“I feel like it’s more patient-focused, and that’s the type of culture I want to work in,” Rosa said. “A lot of customers trust us, and we get to form a personal relationship with them.”
After graduation, Rosa plans to take her pharmacist licensing exam and continue her career with Publix.
“It’s a very nurturing place that helps you learn everything you need to know,” Rosa said. “They want you to succeed here.”
