Lindsey began her Publix career as a sourcing and contracts manager in facilities in 2009. She held multiple positions, such as senior strategy team leader and manager of innovation, before being promoted to director of strategy support in 2023.
What led you to the strategy support team?
In my 1st week at Publix, I participated in a project where strategy support helped brainstorm ways to solve a tough challenge. I was inspired from then on to be part of the department and was offered a position a few years later. To this day, I love working with great people to solve hard problems. And that’s exactly what strategy support is all about!
What Publix project have you enjoyed working on the most?
It’s tough to pick just 1! Over the years, I’ve helped redesign shelf tags and enclose the back docks, but my all-time favorite was opening our Green House, Publix’s innovation space we use to create and test ideas. I think it’s important for our associates to know they play a vital role in sharing ideas that have the potential to reduce costs, improve efficiency or enhance our premier service. Associates should visit Idea Spot if they think they have a good idea.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Always be ready and willing to listen before speaking. Sometimes, people are quick to speak and act before hearing what others have to say.
What’s your favorite Publix product?
Our Mardi Gras chicken wings
What are your hobbies?
I love spending time with my family, especially at the beach.
What qualities help you lead your team?
One of our department’s roles is helping leaders work together to successfully complete projects, so strong communication and collaboration skills are the most important qualities for me and my team.
Who have been your biggest inspirations?
My parents have been big inspirations throughout my life. I aspire to be more like my mom every day, and my dad was an entrepreneur who always challenged me to do more professionally. A quote he used a lot was, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence is not an act, but a habit.” Lakeland Division Regional Director Patrick Helm and Executive Chairman Todd Jones were 2 other important figures in my Publix career. Early on, Patrick taught me a lot about our culture, and Todd gave me the opportunity to work on some great projects over the years.
What’s another Publix project you really enjoyed?
I was thrilled when we launched Idea Spot, a digital platform where associates can share their ideas to improve their jobs and Publix. We’re always striving to improve our associates’ workplace and work performance, and there’s no better source for receiving ideas for work improvement than from our associates. If they think they have a good idea, they should search for Idea Spot on PASSport!
What’s your favorite sports team?
Tallahassee will forever be a 2nd home, so Florida State University football is my favorite (even this year!).
What did you want to be as a kid?
A meteorologist. I liked studying and observing the weather. I even wrote a book about weather in 5th grade.
If you had to watch 1 television show forever, what would it be?
Something funny and positive like “Ted Lasso.”
What’s your favorite movie of all time?
“National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” makes me laugh out loud every time.
