Publix refrigeration technicians play a vital part in keeping our products fresh while reducing waste in our stores. Exciting new opportunities are available for aspiring and current refrigeration technicians who want to advance in their careers.

In 2021, we started an initiative to train associates to maintain and repair our refrigeration systems. Last year, we opened a new refrigeration training center providing supermarket-specific HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) training. Associates train at the Industrial Maintenance Training Center in Lakeland, Florida, which supports the Orlando and Jacksonville areas.

There are many benefits that come with being a refrigeration technician, including

• potential tuition reimbursement for necessary HVAC and refrigeration training
