Tech enthusiast achieves success one byte at a time

Publix Technology Services Technical Trainer Ger Vue is always looking for improvements.

Ger began his career with Publix at #480, Winder, Georgia, nearly 23 years ago and later transitioned to Publix Technology Services. He has been in his current role as a technical trainer for 3 years, and enjoys making a difference.

“I believe starting my career in retail has given me an advantage in my job. I understand how what I do supports our retail customers and associates,” Ger said.

As a technical trainer, Ger trains and coaches newly hired associates on how to use computer systems, repair and replace certain equipment, find efficient ways to finish jobs, and more. Sometimes, he rides along with technicians to stores to identify better ways of doing a job.

Process improvement is another big part of his job. Ger often writes documentation on procedures for working with and repairing equipment in the stores. Part of his process includes analyzing any areas of the equipment that can be improved and making sure the equipment meets Publix standards.

Ger has this advice for associates looking for a technology career: “It’s important to have strong organizational skills, complete your education and earn essential IT certifications, such as CompTIA A+, Network+ and Security+.”
