Her dedication to customers and her work ethic are keys to her success.
Deli Clerk Gymana Jean Jacques, #401, Jupiter, Florida, who also goes by Nana, has worked for Publix for a little over a year. She comes from Haiti and has been in the U.S. for 12 years.
“Nana represents several items on the Publix strategy map,” said Store Manager Peter Clayton. “She performs her assignments outstandingly and shows her hunger to learn more and transition into a management position as soon as possible.”
Nana is known for her premier service and her can-do attitude. She is always willing to help her co-workers in all areas of the deli department. A day with her is fast-paced. She makes product recommendations and answers questions for customers. Then, she prepares food — including slicing deli meats and cheeses, and making sandwiches — and prices and packages deli items with care to offer quality products to her customers.
“I like to say that my job is easy because I love what I do. I enjoy being in the kitchen as much as I like to work with the customers,” said Nana. “It’s a perfect way to meet new people with different points of view and expectations.”
She always tries to give her best and treats people as she wants to be treated. That’s what makes all the difference to her. She looks up to Assistant Store Manager Christopher Mackey as an inspiration.
“He knows exactly when and how things need to be done and is always here to help,” said Nana.
Her long-term goal is to move into a management position. She is learning to understand department reports and attends weekly department meetings to get the tools necessary for her next step. Nana is very grateful to work for a company with great culture, benefits and opportunities for career growth.
Nana is recognized as a My Publix, My Part difference maker for providing premier service, offering quality products and suggesting products customers might want to buy.
