Our Publix truck drivers are vital to ensuring products arrive at our stores safely. Every year, they showcase their skills and industry knowledge by participating in truck driving competitions across various states.
This year’s North Carolina Truck Driving Championship was held June 7 – 8 in Raleigh. Five of our truck drivers competed in different vehicle classes, with 3 bringing home 1st place awards. The winners were
- Daniel Stewart — 1st place, straight truck
- David Weakley — 1st place, 4-axle tractor semitrailer and
- Stephen Branham — 1st place, flatbed truck.
These 1st-place winners will compete at the American Trucking Associations’ National Truck Driving Championships, which will be held Aug. 21 – 24 in Indianapolis.
In addition to winning 1st place in the 4-axle category, David was named Rookie of the Year and received the Grand Champion award — the state competition’s highest honor given to the top-performing driver in all classes combined.
Congratulations to all our truck drivers who competed in the North Carolina Truck Driving Championship!
