Road to excellence
Every year, hundreds of top professional truck drivers participate in truck driving competitions in various states nationwide to showcase their skills and knowledge of the industry. Drivers from a wide range of companies and vehicle classes — such as tank truck, 5-axle and step van — compete and are evaluated on written tests, pre-trip inspections, skills courses and other criteria.
Our champions
This year, 40 Publix truck drivers participated in the Alabama, Florida, Georgia and North Carolina Truck Driving Championships. It was a record-setting year for Publix with 8 drivers winning 1st place in their classes, 3 drivers awarded Rookie of the Year and 2 drivers winning Grand Champion — the competition’s highest honor awarded to the top-performing driver in all classes combined.
Drivers who won 1st place at the state level will advance to compete at the American Trucking Associations National Truck Driver Championships, which will be held Aug. 21 – 24 in Indianapolis.
