In case you didn’t know, 2016 is a Leap Year. It takes place every four years when we add Feb. 29 to the calendar. That means we’ll have 366 days, as opposed to the traditional 365 days per year.
So what can you do with an extra day this year? According to legend, Leap Day is the one day when women can reverse tradition and ask men to take their hand in marriage. This was believed to have been designed to balance the traditional roles of men and women, similar to how Leap Day balances the calendar.
But what about those who are born on Feb. 29? Instead of celebrating once every four years, most Leap Day babies, known as Leaplings, celebrate their birthday either on Feb. 28 or March 1 on non-Leap years.
