First Publix Pharmacy telehealth clinic opens

Publix Pharmacy opens its first in-store telehealth clinic, Walk-In Care provided by BayCare, this month at #878, Valrico, Florida. The clinic is one of 25 scheduled to open in Florida stores in Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas and Polk counties as part of our collaboration with BayCare Health System.

So, what’s a telehealth clinic? It’s like a walk-in clinic where you can speak to a medical professional through a webcam and microphone. At our in-store clinics, that professional is a board-certified doctor from the BayCare network. The clinic also has medical tools with high-resolution cameras and sensors to help the doctor make a diagnosis. Our pharmacy associates are available to assist customers and clean and sanitize the clinic between patients.

Walk-In Care provided by BayCare can treat non-emergency conditions including flu or cold, cough, pink eye, ear and sinus infections and skin rashes. Upon completing the exam, the treating physician can write prescriptions for most common medications. Patients can also pick up their prescriptions while at the Publix Pharmacy.
