Millennials prefer home cooked dinners over dining out

Ready to cook meal

A study by the research firm NPD Group indicates millennials, the second largest generation group, consume two-thirds of their dinners at home. Their motivators for choosing recipes are based on satisfaction and taste, but they also must be quick, convenient and inexpensive to prepare. Millennials prefer to cook meals with minimal preparation and cleanup time.

Although these same motivators apply to millennials with or without families, millennials with children tend to spend more than 30 minutes planning their at-home dinners. Those without children generally eat dinner within 30 minutes of deciding what to cook. Also, millennials without children cook a larger variety of recipes than those with children.
