Publix and Goodwill Industries were recognized by the National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) with an honorable mention for the Sustainability Partnership Game Changer Award. The NWRA presented the award at its second annual Waste360 Recycling Summit.
Publix and Goodwill collaborated to increase landfill diversion rates by donating seasonal items from Publix stores to Goodwill. The program involves 458 Publix stores in three states, with plans to continue expanding.
“Part of our company’s mission statement is to be involved as responsible citizens in our communities. Partnering with Goodwill Industries to recycle is just one way we fulfill our mission by sustaining the environment and working within our communities as responsible citizens,” said Regional Director Joe Taylor.
Winners of the award were selected by a panel of judges who are professionals in the waste and recycling industry, as well as from other technology and education organizations.
