The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) GreenChill Partnership honored Publix with three awards last month. Publix earned the Store Certification Excellence and two Store Re-Certification Excellence awards.

Publix earned the Store Certification Excellence award for achieving 26 GreenChill store certifications in the past year. Stores #1204, Winter Haven, Florida, and #1227, Suwanee, Georgia, have achieved GreenChill Certification for five consecutive years and were honored with the Store Re-Certification Excellence award.

GreenChill is an EPA partnership with food retailers to reduce refrigerant emissions. To qualify for GreenChill Store Certification, a store must meet specific criteria like achieving a store-wide annual refrigerant emissions rate of 15 percent or less.
