Dennis began his Publix career in 2005 as director of loss prevention, and in 2010, he gained responsibility for safety. He and his team are responsible for developing strategies to reduce shrink and customer and associate injuries, as well as overseeing property and fire protection, money services and security for the company.

A U.S. senator
What brought you to Publix?
A really lucky circumstance — a former colleague was working in loss prevention here and called to let me know there was an opening for the director position. I submitted my resume and was fortunate enough to be selected to fill the position.
What do you enjoy most about working at Publix?
I enjoy the culture and the fact that we’ve sustained it for more than 85 years. The culture allows Publix to thrive while others have failed.
What’s your favorite Publix memory?
Winning the 2009 President’s Award
What has changed most about Publix since you started here?
Even though I only joined Publix in 2005, our growth has been phenomenal in the past 11 years.
What are your favorite Publix products?
I’m addicted to our Publix Deli jalapeño and cilantro hummus.

I read a lot, so that’s a tough question. Two of my favorites are The Fifth Profession by David Morrell and The HAB Theory by Allan Eckert.

How do you spend your spare time?
Reading, fixing things that I break around the house, golf when I have time and spending time with my family

I have a really eclectic playlist, including the Beatles, Rolling Stones, George Ezra, Imagine Dragons, Adele, Train, Coldplay, Elle King, and Empire of the Sun — just to name a few.

I am very proud of my three wonderful daughters and what they are doing with their lives.
