Floyd Freeman – Director of Manufacturing/Supply Purchasing

Floyd began his Publix career in 1975 as a part-time associate at the Lakeland grocery distribution center. He worked his way through various business areas before being promoted to his current position in 2004, where he oversees the purchase of retail supplies, manufacturing commodities, industrial equipment, services and the selection of Publix brand suppliers.

New Orleans

What brought you to Publix?
My family moved to Lakeland when I was in high school, and I was told Publix was the best company to work for in town.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy developing associates and seeing them be successful. I love coming to work every day!

What do you enjoy most about working at Publix?
Being a part of a great team. I work with so many talented and committed people every day. It keeps me motivated to do my best!

What’s your favorite Publix memory?
I have two. The first is working at Publix through college and then being offered a job in the corporate office, and the second is receiving the 2013 President’s Award.

What’s your proudest moment?
When my wife and I adopted our two children, Doug and Mackenzie

What’s your guilty pleasure?
Publix Premium Ice Cream — I have a bowl every night!

What’s your work or life philosophy?
Always do the right thing, be the best you can at whatever you do, and always give 100 percent.

What did you want to be when you were little?
Like a lot of young people, I grew up playing sports, so I wanted to become a professional athlete.

The rate of change we deal with in our industry and the amazing amount of technology available to help us make even better decisions
