Monica joined Publix in 2001 as a benefits project manager. She was promoted to manager of stock programs in 2003 and to her current role in 2012.

Where were you born?
Springfield, Missouri

What do you enjoy most about your job?
The thing I enjoy most is the opportunity to meet so many Publix people and the variety of scenarios my department experiences each day.

How has Publix influenced you?
I feel like I’ve grown up here. And I’ve never seen people work as hard as Publix associates — they bleed green with passion.

What’s your favorite Publix memory?
It actually stemmed from one of the most difficult times in my life when my mother passed away. I was still pretty new to Publix, but so many people dropped what they were doing to help me through it. That’s when I realized I’d gained a Publix family.

How do you spend your spare time?
I love spending time with my children and attending their sporting events. I also enjoy participating in mud runs.

Scandal

What’s playing in your iPod right now?
Ed Sheeran, Reba McEntire, Beyoncé and Coldplay

I had just moved to the area and my background was in the benefits field. I started working here as a project manager.

Providing benefits to all of our associates

What has changed most about Publix since you started here?
The regulations we have to comply with. They are becoming more and more complex.

Being promoted to manager of stock programs

Tampa Bay Lightning, Tampa Bay Rays and Dallas Cowboys
