Tom Larson

Tom joined Publix in 2006 as director of information systems engineering. He was promoted to his current role in January. Tom’s areas of responsibility include all computer infrastructure, engineering, operations and customer support.

Where were you born?
Perth Amboy, N.J.

What is the most exciting aspect of your new job?
Meeting the challenge of supporting almost 1,100 stores and all support locations. Each business unit has diverse requirements, and we’re responsible for meeting those challenges. Supporting all of our stores, distribution, manufacturing and office locations makes for interesting days.

What’s your favorite Publix memory?
The groundbreaking ceremony of our Atlanta data center

Dancing with the Stars

How do you spend your spare time?
Reading and spending time with my dog, Astro

What did you want to be when you grew up?
A professional photographer

What do you enjoy most about working at Publix?
Seeing the growth and success of our associates

What has changed most about Publix since you started here?
The infrastructure in I/S has changed significantly over the last six years. We have embraced new technologies, opened a new data center and are working to revamp retail systems.

What do you admire the most about Publix?
The cleanliness of our stores and the labor hours we invest to surpass standards

What are your hobbies?
Reading and cooking

What are your immediate goals?
We are currently working to reduce the costs associated with opening new stores and completing remodels. By evaluating new technology, we hope to reduce costs and improve functionality.

The 1964 New York Yankees
