Produce/floral

In this season of thanksgiving and abundance, Publix helps us enjoy abundance by providing a variety of fresh produce and beautiful floral arrangements. Sweeten the season with the items below; many of them are winter favorites because they’re at their very best.

  • Pomegranate — these fruits have been used for thousands of years to treat a wide variety of diseases because they are high in antioxidants. Select a firm, shiny fruit with bright red coloring.
  • Persimmons (Fuyu and Hachiya varieties) — with sweet flavor and a brilliant orange glow, these tomato-shaped fruits are a great source of fiber. The Fuyu variety should be firm, but the Hachiya should be soft. Slice and eat it with the skin on, or add it to salads that include nuts, cheeses or pomegranates.
  • Southern vegetables (yellow squash, zucchini, green beans, pole beans and bell peppers) — these favorites can be added to any delicious dinner. Select firm, fresh-looking vegetables, and steam them for a quickly served side dish.
  • Strawberries — this time of year, we buy the best berries from farms located just minutes from Publix’s headquarters. Strawberries are high in vitamin C, which can help you ward off winter colds. Select bright red berries with fresh, green tops for best flavor.
  • Clementine mandarins — with a bright orange skin and small size, this sweet, seedless citrus is commonly associated with Christmas due to its seasonality. It’s a kid favorite because they’re easy to hold and easy to peel, and parents feel good knowing each fruit is full of vitamin C.
  • Honeycrisp apples — sweet yet tart with a burst of flavor when you bite it, this apple’s flavor makes it ideal for eating raw. Select an apple that’s firm and shiny for best quality.
  • Apple cider — when it comes to fresh juice, nothing beats this fall favorite. This unfiltered, unsweetened, non-alcoholic apple-based beverage is available on Publix shelves from Halloween through the new year.
  • Winter squash (butternut, acorn and spaghetti) — if you’re looking for a vegetable full of vitamins, complex vegetable carbohydrates and dietary fiber, try one of several winter squash varieties. Slice one in half, scoop out the seeds, fill with brown sugar and butter, and bake in the oven.
  • Cranberries — a seasonal tradition, these berries are natural superfoods, full of vitamins and antioxidants. Select firm, bright red berries to eat alone or mixed in recipes.
  • Sweet Potatoes — these potatoes may be one of nature’s best sources of beta-carotene (vitamin A), which can help prevent inflammatory problems. Pick a firm potato that’s heavy for size, and then bake, boil, mash or fry them as a delicious side dish.
  • Publix Premium Bouquets — guaranteed to last seven days, Publix offers bouquets with big, brilliant fall and holiday blooms to decorate your home.
  • Poinsettias — the unofficial flowering plant of the holidays, Publix’s poinsettias are long-lasting and come in a variety of colors.
  • Holiday cactus — this striking bloom comes around every Christmas season. Pick one up for yourself or as a gift for a loved one!
