Do you have the luck of the Irish?

Publix Puzzle Four-leaf Clover

In the days leading up to St. Patrick’s Day, we’ll see all things green, including leprechauns and the luckiest of them all — shamrocks and four-leaf clovers. But, are shamrocks and four-leaf clovers really lucky?

Believe it or not, there’s not much reason to consider the shamrock, a three-leaf clover, a symbol of luck.

As the famous story goes, St. Patrick, Ireland’s patron saint, used the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity to pagans. As a result, people in 18th century Ireland started wearing them on their clothes every March 17 to signify their Irish Christian pride, which later grew into wearing green clothing.

You also may have heard the legend in which good fortune comes to those who find the rarest of shamrocks — four-leaf clovers. Although the history of the four-leaf clover is unknown, some growers report one out of 10,000 three-leaf clovers do indeed have four leaves.

Now, see if you can you find all the four-leaf clovers in this Publix puzzle. Although we can’t say you’ll have good luck if you do, we can certainly pass along our best wishes. Good luck!
