Publix commits to $4 billion in food donations to alleviate hunger

Last month, during an event at #794, Miami, CEO Todd Jones announced Publix had donated more than $2 billion in dairy, deli, meat, produce, and fresh-baked goods to people in need since 2009 and pledged an additional $2 billion in food donations over the next 10 years.

“You can’t always see hunger, but it is all around us,” said Todd. “As a food retailer, our greatest opportunity to give back is by helping to alleviate food insecurity. That’s why for more than a decade we have worked to ensure millions of pounds of food have reached people in need in the communities we serve.”

Each day, through our food recovery program, associates gather perishable foods that are no longer salable and donate them to more than 100 Feeding America member food banks and other nonprofit organizations. Our program allows food banks to offer nourishing options to their clients.

With hunger affecting every community we serve, providing support is at the core of our charitable efforts.
