According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, more than 48 million Americans live in food insecure households, including 15.3 million children. People who struggle with food insecurity are unable to consistently access enough nutritious food necessary for a healthy life.
During the holidays, Publix makes it easy for customers to help their neighbors through the Food for Sharing program. Customers simply select one of three recipe donation cards available at checkout, which cashiers scan and add to the total order.
Since 2012, customers have donated more than $34 million to food banks through Food for Sharing. Publix has worked closely with our food bank partners to streamline the donation process — eliminating waste in transportation and labor.
Food for Sharing is one of six corporate campaigns Publix supports, including Food For All, Children’s Miracle Network, March of Dimes, Special Olympics and Tools for Schools.
