Kids share their roadmap to success

Roadmap to Success

Hopes. Dreams. Goals. Challenges. This is some of what the hundreds of children thought about during Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day April 25.

Each year, students ages 8 – 18 experience what it’s like to be a Publix associate during Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day. They’re also given an opportunity to participate in the annual Publix News contest.

Kids from around the company entered the contest by submitting drawings and essays depicting their personal roadmap to success and the obstacles they’ll need to overcome along the way. Each child’s roadmap was different, but many defined success as doing well in school, going to college and getting a good job. The obstacles they listed included things like staying focused in school, paying for college and
finding a part-time job.

Although we received many excellent entries, only one winner could be chosen from each category. Each winner and runner-up receives a prize pack. Here are the winners and runners-up in each category.
