For more than 40 years, Publix has partnered with Special Olympics to support athletes all over the country. This year, the campaign runs Jan. 1 – 21.

Special Olympics aims to empower individuals with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit, productive and respected members of their community. During the Special Olympics Pass the Torch campaign, customers can choose to donate $1, $3, $5 or $10 at checkout to help provide year-round training for and entry to Olympic-style individual and team competitions.

During this year’s Pass the Torch campaign, three Publix associates will be featured individually on the Special Olympics Facebook page — Jan. 5, 12 and 19. So, be sure to visit www.facebook.com/specialolympicsflorida to show some love for our Publix athletes.

Last year, Publix raised more than $3.2 million to support this incredible organization. Visit www.specialolympics.org to learn about the organization’s history, read the full list of sports offered or find volunteer opportunities in your area.
