Take our daughters and sons to work day contest

On April 27, most Publix stores and support areas are participating in Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day. This annual event is an opportunity for your children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews, ages 8 – 18, to see you in action. They also can take part in Publix News’ annual contest.

This year’s theme is Count on Me, and its focus on dependability is closely related to the Publix spirit. Our customers depend on us to provide premier service. Our associates depend on each other to make sure the work gets done. And our communities depend on us to be actively involved in making them better places to live. By participating in Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day, students will learn why Publix is a great place to work and how our culture of service influences everything we do.

Students who take part in the event can show what they learned by participating in the Publix News contest. The details are below.

  1. Middle and high school students are asked to write a brief essay (100 – 150 words) detailing how dependability is part of providing premier customer service. Please submit articles on lined paper, using black or blue ink.
  2. Elementary students are asked to draw a picture, using colorful markers or crayons, illustrating how Publix associates are dependable. Drawings should be on an 8½ by 11-inch sheet of unlined, white paper.
  3. On the back of the entry (in pencil), please include the child’s name and grade, and your name, job class and store number or department name. Please do not use a store stamp.
  4. To be considered, entries must be received by May 12, 2017, and they cannot be returned.
  5. Children can work on their entries during the day of their visit, and the best entry and runner-up in each category may be featured in an upcoming issue of Publix News.
  6. Send entries through company mail or through U.S. mail to the following address:
