The year was 1993. Bill Clinton was inaugurated as the 42nd president of the United States. Apple introduced the Newton MessagePad, the first personal digital assistant. The Dallas Cowboys and Toronto Blue Jays were champions in the sports world. And Publix began its partnership with Boar’s Head.
The story goes something like this: Publix was looking to expand our offerings beyond our traditional deli brand. Our customers who had relocated from the North or were seasonal residents in our market areas mentioned how much they missed Boar’s Head sliced meats and cheeses. After a few conversations, leaders from Publix and Boar’s Head realized both family-owned companies were rooted in similar values and principles: a commitment to sourcing the finest ingredients and providing a high level of customer service and quality.
These ideals became the foundation for our collaboration as we know it today. Boar’s Head remains very involved in our stores by distributing high-quality products, and sending their local employees to help train our deli associates, host selling events and help us celebrate grand openings. And as leaders in our respective industries, we will continue to build on our mutual successes as we look to the future.
Throughout the year, the Publix Deli will celebrate our silver anniversary with Boar’s Head with golden savings. Look for the special 25th anniversary logo on a variety of items across the deli, from long-time favorites to delicious new flavors.
