About 71% of Earth is covered by water. Out of this, 96.5% belongs to the ocean, so it’s no wonder that’s where most of Earth’s oxygen comes from. Let’s celebrate this essential ecosystem through the month of June — National Ocean Month — by learning about our domestic seafood sourcing efforts.
Although Publix carries seafood from around the world, the domestic industry has always been a key component of our seafood program. Our sourcing efforts keep the fish and shrimp houses along the Southeast Coast, Gulf of Mexico, Pacific Northwest, and Alaska busy throughout the year by carrying their product in our stores. We are proud to be a lead buyer of Florida grouper, shrimp and clams — along with Alaskan salmon. When it comes to domestic seafood, fresh or frozen, we are committed to offering our customers the best from near and far.
You can find domestic seafood in both the full-service seafood case and the frozen section of the seafood department. Look for the shelf tag in the fresh case to see where the product is from. The country of origin will be identified on the back of the frozen seafood packages.
